Situation: In 2004, BioPointe was engaged by Publicis Selling Solutions (PSS), a contract sales leasing company based in Lawrenceville, NJ, to assist in building a primary care sales force for a pharmaceutical manufacturer. Oscient Pharmaceuticals, a privately held company based in Waltham, MA was launching FACTIVE® (gemifloxacin mesylate) tablets, a fluoroquinolone antibiotic. FACTIVE was approved for the treatment of acute bacterial exacerbations of chronic bronchitis and community-acquired pneumonia of mild to moderate severity.

Objective: To identify, source and recruit pharmaceutical sales reps with experience in selling antibiotics to primary care physicians.

Action: Due to the size and timeframe of the project, BioPointe executed a rapid deployment program. Through its national network of executive search firms, BioPointe engaged affiliate agencies that specialized in the antibiotic and primary care sales space. The selected agencies identified, sourced, and screened candidates as swiftly as possible. BioPointe consultants conducted secondary phone screens to insure the candidates met all the candidate profiling parameters before forwarding to the hiring managers.
